Civil Engineering student profile
Studies are aimed at educating future engineers who will not only gain expertise in the field of modern building industry, but also master fluency in technical English, so necessary in today’s labor market. These studies have been continued uninterruptedly for almost ten years.
Civil engineering major in English includes:
1st cycle (BSc) studies – that last 3,5 years (7 semesters)
2nd cycle (MSc) studies with the specialty: Building and engineering structures, that last 1,5 years (3 semesters).
The detailed curriculum of the 1st cycle civil engineering studies together with the course plan and the description of each course are provided in the attached files.
Professional competencies acquired during studies
1st cycle
After completing the 1st cycle studies, the graduate is qualified within the domain of design and erection of any building and engineering structures such as buildings, roads, bridges, shell structures, storage tanks, underground structures erected using reinforced concrete, masonry, metal and timber technologies. The graduate is prepared to oversee and manage the building processes as well as maintenance, operation and restoration of building resources. This knowledge is based on the gains of modern technology, using computer methods and information technologies. The graduate is capable of understanding social, economic, legal and other conditions affecting the engineering activities. He is able to work as a member of a team.
2nd cycle
The professional title of M.Sc. in Engineering is conferred upon the graduate. During the studies he expands the knowledge gained during the 1st cycle studies. This expanded knowledge constitutes the basis for creative professional activity, permanent education and acquiring practical competences in the broadly understood domain of Civil Engineering. The graduates are capable of understanding social, economic, legal and other conditions affecting the engineering activities. They are able to work in a team. The graduate is prepared to work in structural design offices, construction companies, own building enterprises, scientific research institutions and consulting companies, institutions of higher education, building supervision authorities as well as state and local government administration services. During the studies the graduate may complete a pedagogical study, which entitles him to teach in vocational schools. The graduate obtains the basis for applying, after meeting the statutory requirements, for building qualifications to perform independent functions in construction industry.
Land management student profile
Land management is interfaculty field of study: faculty of architecture, faculty of civil engineering and faculty of environmental engineering.
Spatial development is a modern field of study that assures interdisciplinary knowledge in the spatial organization of socio-economic development, principles and techniques of spatial planning, general economic, natural and social knowledge, as well as specialist knowledge in the field of planning the development of technical and transportation infrastructure.
